以前听说持pr超过一定年限而没有入籍的话，rep更新可能会被拒。至少目前看来不会！只要符合要求，还是能更新的。
有个问题顺便咨询一下，这里明确说了pr没有有效期，是rep最多5年的有效期。为什么最近很多rep没有renew成功的家庭被要求卖hdb呢？按说应该可以继续住在hdb里，只要不出国就没影响。而且我一个卖房子的朋友也告诉我，rep renew不成功的话，就要卖掉HDB,谁能解释下？

SINGAPORE – The government currently has no plans to consider not renewing the re-entry permit of Permanent Residents after one has held the Permanent Resident (PR) status for a stipulated number of years.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Grace Fu made this point in Parliament today, noting that about 10 per cent of PRs would have held their PR status for 20 years or more years. She explained that while the PR status did not have a validity period, they are issued with a re-entry permit (REP) which has a maximum validity of five years.
Ms Fu added that the REP would be renewed if the PR met prevailing criteria, including whether he is gainfully employed and is contributing to Singapore, or whether he has family roots in Singapore and continues to maintain ties here. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
